Westlaw Precision, introduced in 2022 as the successor generation to Westlaw Edge within Thomson Reuters' Westlaw lineup, pairs the traditional Westlaw case-law and statute database with litigation analytics: judge-, court- and attorney-level insights on rulings and case types, KeyCite Overruling Risk flags for potentially undermined precedent, and instant comparison between statute or regulation versions, integrated directly into legal research rather than sold as a separate analytics product. It targets litigators doing case-law research who also want litigation strategy data in the same workflow, overlapping with Lex Machina (also a LexisNexis competitor product family) but bundled with full-text legal research rather than analytics alone. Thomson Reuters continues to sell multiple Westlaw editions (Precision, Edge, Advantage) side by side, so buyers should confirm current naming with a sales rep.
