Mode was built as a tool for data analysts and data scientists rather than business users: its core workflow is writing SQL (and optionally Python) in a notebook-style editor, then layering visualizations, narrative text, and light dashboards on top of that analysis in the same document. This roots it closer to an analyst's exploratory-analysis tool than a drag-and-drop BI product, and it supports reusable, explorable datasets that other analysts can build on. Mode was acquired by ThoughtSpot in 2023, and by early 2025 ThoughtSpot had absorbed Mode's SQL/Python/notebook capabilities into its own Analyst Studio product; the mode.com site continues to operate but prospective buyers should confirm current packaging and roadmap directly with ThoughtSpot before standardizing on it. It fits teams whose analysts already think in SQL and want to publish that analysis rather than rebuild it in a separate dashboard tool.
