Hex is built around a notebook-to-app workflow: data scientists and analysts write SQL, Python, and R in a shared, cell-based notebook (similar to Jupyter but multiplayer), then publish that same notebook as an interactive app with inputs, filters, and visualizations that non-technical users can operate without seeing the underlying code. This is the core differentiator from conventional dashboard tools, which separate the query/modeling step from the consumption layer -- in Hex the exploratory analysis and the published deliverable are the same artifact, kept in sync as the notebook is updated. Hex also includes an AI agent that can write and edit cells, scheduled runs and alerts for keeping apps fresh, version history, and compute add-ons for heavier workloads. It connects to common cloud warehouses and is delivered only as a hosted cloud product.
