Karen Clark & Company

Boston-based catastrophe modelling firm whose RiskInsight platform prices hurricane, earthquake and severe-storm risk.

Karen Clark & Company was founded by the creator of the first commercial catastrophe model and offers RiskInsight, an open loss-modelling platform for insurers, reinsurers and ILS managers. It supports probabilistic models for hurricane, earthquake, severe convective storm, extratropical cyclone, flood, wildfire and winter storm across the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Unlike closed "black-box" vendor models, RiskInsight lets users plug in their own or third-party event sets and vulnerability curves. It is delivered as a cloud-based platform and competes with Verisk Extreme Event Solutions and Moody's RMS in the catastrophe-modelling market.
