GridPoint sells building-level energy management software aimed at multi-site commercial businesses, chain restaurants, retail and convenience stores rather than utilities themselves. Sensors and controllers connected to HVAC systems, refrigeration, and lighting feed a cloud analytics platform that flags anomalies such as equipment running outside schedule, identifies efficiency opportunities, and can automate scheduling and demand-management actions. A grid-interactive layer also lets buildings participate in utility demand-response programs, giving GridPoint some overlap with Uplight AutoGrid, though AutoGrid operates from the utility side coordinating many buildings while GridPoint sells directly to the building operator managing its own portfolio of sites.
