AutoGrid Systems was acquired by Uplight in 2023 and now operates as Uplight's grid-flexibility product line, forecasting and orchestrating distributed energy resources, residential batteries, smart thermostats, EV chargers and behind-the-meter solar, into coordinated demand-response events and virtual power plants for utilities. Its DER management system (DERMS) software analyzes grid conditions and device-level flexibility to dispatch load shifting or storage discharge when a utility needs to manage peak demand or integrate renewables. Unlike Itron, which pairs analytics with its own metering hardware, or GridPoint, which focuses on commercial building energy management, Uplight AutoGrid is squarely utility-facing software for managing distributed, customer-owned flexible load and storage assets at grid scale.
