Verdict

Adobe Experience Platform and Salesforce Data 360 are both enterprise data layers built to serve a much larger suite of applications, not standalone CDPs competing purely on data-unification quality. The deciding factor for most buyers isn't a feature in either product — it's which company's other software you already run.

Adobe Experience Platform ingests data into a shared Experience Data Model schema and resolves it into unified profiles used by Adobe's Real-Time CDP for segmentation and activation to Adobe's own channels (Target, Journey Optimizer, Campaign) as well as external destinations. Salesforce Data 360 (renamed from Data Cloud) takes a different technical approach — zero-copy connections to warehouses like Snowflake and Databricks that avoid duplicating source data — and its newest positioning is explicitly about feeding Salesforce's Agentforce AI agents grounded context, not only powering marketing campaigns.

Choose Adobe Experience Platform if

  • You already run Adobe Target, Journey Optimizer, or Campaign and want one data foundation shared across them.
  • Real-time and batch ingestion into a common, governed schema matters more than avoiding a second copy of your data.
  • Implementation support from Adobe or a systems-integration partner is acceptable given the platform's schema and governance complexity.

Choose Salesforce Data 360 if

  • Your organization runs on Salesforce Sales, Service, or Marketing Cloud and you want a CDP with native metadata integration across them.
  • Avoiding data duplication matters — zero-copy connections to your existing warehouse are a core design choice, not an add-on.
  • You're evaluating Agentforce or other Salesforce AI agents and need a data foundation built to ground them specifically.

What they share

Both are cloud-only, quote-only enterprise products with no public pricing figures, both connect to major cloud warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, Google Cloud appear in both records), and both are positioned as the data foundation under a much wider application suite rather than a lightweight, standalone CDP.

The honest caveat

Neither vendor publishes pricing, and both typically require a systems-integration partner to implement well, so the real total cost of either platform is not visible from a comparison page — it depends heavily on how much of the respective Adobe or Salesforce suite you're bundling in. If you don't already run either ecosystem, evaluate a standalone CDP like mParticle or Tealium before assuming you need the enterprise-suite tier at all.
