Sentinel Hub is a cloud API and processing service, originally built by Slovenian company Sinergise and acquired by Planet Labs in 2023, that gives developers instant access to satellite imagery from Copernicus Sentinel missions, Landsat, MODIS and (through the Planet integration) commercial Planet imagery, without needing to download and process raw scenes locally. Its custom scripting language (evalscript) lets users define band math, cloud masking and index calculations (like NDVI) that run server-side, returning ready-to-use images or statistics through a REST API. It is used by developers building geospatial apps, agriculture and forestry monitoring tools, and researchers who need repeatable, scriptable access to multi-source imagery rather than manual downloads.
