Planet Labs
Satellite operator providing near-daily global imagery and change-detection analytics from its SuperDove and SkySat fleets.
Planet Labs operates a large constellation of small satellites, led by its SuperDove fleet, that images essentially the entire Earth's land surface roughly once a day at moderate resolution (a few meters per pixel, eight spectral bands), which it sells as Planet Monitoring (continuous coverage) and Planet Mosaics (cloud-free composite basemaps). Its separate SkySat fleet delivers sub-daily revisit at higher (50 cm) resolution for tasked, specific-location imagery through Planet Tasking. On top of the raw imagery, Planet sells analytics products such as automated change detection, methane-emission detection and forest-carbon estimation, aimed at customers who want a signal rather than a picture to interpret manually. Its daily-revisit archive, built up continuously since the constellation launched, is a key differentiator from tasking-only providers, since customers can search historical coverage of a location instead of always ordering a new capture. Customers span defense and intelligence agencies, agriculture, insurance, energy and forestry/sustainability organizations.
