FEWS NET (the Famine Early Warning Systems Network) is a USAID-funded program that monitors and forecasts acute food insecurity by analyzing climate, conflict, market and livelihood conditions across more than 30 countries in East, Southern and West Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. It publishes monthly country reports and alerts, IPC-compatible five-phase food-insecurity classifications, Food Assistance Outlook Briefs and Peak Food Assistance Needs reports, plus interactive tools including a Data Explorer, heat-exposure projections, agroclimatology data and livelihood-zone maps. Outputs are used by USAID, other donor governments, UN agencies and NGOs to plan humanitarian food assistance. All FEWS NET products are free to access, though the site notes its content does not constitute official US government positions.
