The Humanitarian Data Exchange is an open data-sharing platform launched in 2014 and managed by OCHA's Centre for Humanitarian Data in The Hague. Built on the open-source CKAN platform, it hosts more than 20,000 country-specific and global datasets, contributed by upwards of 1,900 sources including UN agencies, NGOs and governments, covering topics such as population displacement, food security, health, conflict events and humanitarian response indicators. Data is accessed through a searchable web catalog, a CKAN-based API, and newer tabular Data Explorer/API endpoints backed by a DataStore for programmatic querying without full file downloads. As a UN public good, HDX is free to use for both publishing and accessing data, and current currency of individual datasets varies by contributing organization.
