Verdict

Clari Forecast and Gong both promise the same outcome — an AI-validated revenue forecast and at-risk-deal flags — but start from different raw material. Clari began as an independent forecasting platform and is now sold as a module of Salesloft's revenue platform, reading historical CRM deal data together with rep activity and engagement signals captured across Salesloft's Cadence, Conversations and Deals modules. Gong treats the recorded call and email transcript itself as the primary data source: it transcribes conversations, links them to CRM opportunity records, and builds forecasts, coaching scorecards and deal-risk flags from what was actually said, not only from logged CRM fields.

Choose Clari if

  • You already run, or are evaluating, Salesloft for outbound sequencing and want forecasting built on the same activity data and login rather than a separate tool.
  • Your forecast needs to filter by bookings, renewals, region, segment or account size out of the box.
  • You'd rather buy forecasting as part of a broader sales-engagement platform than as a standalone product.

Choose Gong if

  • Conversation intelligence and call coaching — not just forecasting — are a primary requirement, and you want scorecards graded against a defined methodology.
  • You want the transcript treated as a first-class data source, with talk-track and competitor-mention tracking across recorded calls feeding the forecast.
  • You need a platform sold and supported as a dedicated revenue-intelligence product rather than a module inside a sequencing suite.

The honest caveat

Because Clari is no longer sold as a standalone product, choosing it today means buying into the Salesloft platform and its billing, even if forecasting is the only module you want. Gong, by contrast, is purchased and priced on its own. Neither publishes a price list; both are quoted per seat. See how to choose a revenue intelligence platform for where sequencing-first tools and conversation-first tools diverge more broadly, and sales forecasting for what "AI-validated" forecasting is actually doing under the hood.
