Tyler Data & Insights is the rebranded successor to Socrata, the SaaS platform many US state and city open-data portals were built on, after Tyler Technologies acquired the business. Unlike CKAN's self-hosted, do-it-yourself model, it's a managed cloud service: agencies publish datasets through a hosted workflow, and it automatically generates an API for every dataset plus interactive charting for building public performance dashboards. It's positioned as much for government performance management (tracking service-level KPIs publicly) as for open-data catalog publishing, which distinguishes it from catalog-first tools. Being government-focused enterprise software, pricing is quoted per agency contract rather than published, typically as part of a broader Tyler Technologies civic-software relationship.
