Jaspersoft is a reporting and embedded-analytics platform whose roots go back to the open-source JasperReports project. The core report-generation library, JasperReports, remains open source under an LGPL license and is still widely embedded directly into other applications by developers. The full commercial platform, JasperReports Server, and its embedded-analytics tooling are proprietary; the community edition of the server itself was discontinued in January 2024, so a downloaded JasperReports Server today can keep running but no longer receives fixes. Ownership passed from TIBCO to Cloud Software Group and, in mid-2026, to Actian (part of HCLSoftware), which folded Jaspersoft into its data-management portfolio alongside data cataloging and governance products. Actian states it is continuing the open-source library and community channels while investing in AI-enhanced and agentic BI features on the commercial side.
