IQVIA is one of the largest healthcare data and analytics companies, formed from the 2016 merger of IMS Health and Quintiles, combining a data and technology business with a full contract research organization (CRO) that runs clinical trials for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Its data business licenses prescription, claims and electronic health record data, much of it de-identified real-world data, to pharma companies for market research, commercial strategy and safety monitoring, alongside analytics platforms such as IQVIA CDR for connecting and governing that data. Because it spans both data and analytics and clinical-trial execution, it is broader than pure analytics vendors in this category. Its customers are almost exclusively pharmaceutical, biotech and medical-device companies plus some payers and providers, on large enterprise and multi-year contracts.
