Datadog Experiments (formerly Eppo)
Warehouse-native experimentation platform known for its CUPED implementation, acquired by Datadog in 2025 and rebranded Datadog Experiments.
Eppo was built as a warehouse-native experimentation and feature-flagging platform: it analyzes results by querying a customer's own warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks) rather than ingesting a separate copy of event data, which it argued gave better governance and cost control than pipeline-based tools. It supports sequential, fixed-sample frequentist, and Bayesian analysis, and is particularly known for CUPED variance reduction — by default it looks back 30 days of pre-experiment metric data per subject to reduce variance, and states that combining CUPED with sequential testing can cut experiment runtimes by 50% or more. Datadog acquired Eppo in 2025 and relaunched it as Datadog Experiments in April 2026, integrating it with Datadog's Product Analytics and Feature Flags; the product remains warehouse-native and the statistical approach is unchanged, but it is now sold and supported as part of the Datadog observability platform rather than as a standalone company.
