Cogito is Epic's umbrella name for the analytics and reporting tools built into its electronic health record (EHR) platform, rather than a separate product sold on its own. It includes Clarity and Caboodle (relational and dimensional data warehouses built from clinical data), SlicerDicer (a self-service, drag-and-drop exploration tool for clinicians and analysts), Reporting Workbench for operational and regulatory reports, and Radar for real-time dashboards. Because it is bundled with Epic, it is only available to organizations already running Epic as their EHR, and it processes protected health information (PHI) under HIPAA within the health system's own governance. It competes less with independent healthcare-analytics vendors on breadth and more on being pre-integrated with clinical data an Epic hospital already has.
