Epi Info is a suite of free public-domain software from the CDC for public health practitioners and researchers, covering questionnaire design, data entry, and statistical analysis for outbreak investigations and surveillance databases. It lets epidemiologists build custom data-entry forms, manage line-list data during an outbreak response, and run descriptive and inferential statistics, including epidemiologic measures like odds ratios and attack rates, without needing a commercial statistics package. Versions exist for Windows desktop use, mobile data collection, and web/cloud deployment, and the tool is widely used by state and local health departments, ministries of health, and field epidemiology training programs, particularly in lower-resource settings where commercial software licensing is a barrier.
