AP VoteCast
Survey-based electorate research product from the AP and NORC that replaces exit polling for characterizing who voted and why.
AP VoteCast is a large-scale survey of the electorate, conducted jointly by the Associated Press and NORC at the University of Chicago, designed to explain who voted, how they voted, and why, across federal and many state races. It combines pre-election and Election Day survey responses (by phone, text-to-web, and mail, plus online panel respondents) with results from voter files to produce a dataset used for race calls, exit-poll-style demographic breakdowns, and issue analysis, positioned as a modern, non-exit-poll alternative to older Election Day polling methods. It is used primarily by AP's own election coverage and by media organizations and researchers that license the data rather than by individual campaigns. This is a data-licensing product for newsrooms and researchers, not a self-service analytics app, and pricing is arranged directly with AP.
