Verdict
Celonis and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence both mine event logs from major enterprise systems to reconstruct real process flows and compare them against how the process was designed to run, but they route the findings differently. Celonis's Execution Management System layers conformance checking, simulation and "Action Flows" on top of discovery — deviations can trigger a fix directly in the source system, from task reassignment to RPA bots to alerts, and its Process AI Copilot targets both business users and process experts. Signavio takes the opposite emphasis: it overlays mined, as-executed processes directly onto the process models already built in SAP Signavio Process Manager, so the product is built to feed a governed process-transformation program rather than to automate a fix on its own. It also ships packaged extractors specifically for standard SAP order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes.
Choose Celonis if
- You want mining tied to an automation and orchestration layer that can act on findings, not just report them.
- Your source systems span multiple ERPs and CRMs beyond SAP — Salesforce, ServiceNow, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics are all named connectors.
- You want cross-process benchmarking apps spanning supply chain, finance and IT rather than a single business-process view.
Choose SAP Signavio Process Intelligence if
- You are SAP-centric and want mined process data compared directly against your own governed process models.
- Your organization already runs, or plans to run, a formal process-transformation or governance program in Signavio Process Manager.
- Deep, packaged extraction for standard SAP order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes matters more than breadth across non-SAP systems.
The honest caveat
Neither vendor publishes pricing, and both are sold by quote scoped to data volume, users and modules — get the actual number for your deployment before assuming either is the "enterprise" or "affordable" option. Celonis is cloud-only, while Signavio is also delivered exclusively as SaaS, so if on-premises deployment for data-sovereignty reasons is a requirement, neither fits and IBM Process Mining or ARIS Process Mining are worth checking instead. See the process mining tool guide for the rest of the category, including the open-source option covered in Apromore vs UiPath Process Mining.
