Zenodo is operated by CERN and funded through the European Commission's OpenAIRE program, giving researchers anywhere a free place to archive datasets, code, posters and papers and get a persistent DOI in return, which is what makes a result formally citable and satisfies funder data-sharing mandates. Its most common reproducibility use is archiving a specific GitHub or GitLab release automatically, so the exact code behind a paper stays retrievable even if the repository later changes or disappears. Every upload accepts new versions under one connected record, and metadata is exposed via OAI-PMH for harvesting by other catalogs. Free storage is generous (50GB per dataset) and accepts any file type or discipline, unlike subject-specific repositories.
