Every event is validated against a defined schema at collection time, which produces a strict, analytics-ready event model but requires more upfront tracking-plan design than simpler tag-based tools. Snowplow's community edition (self-hosted, under a source-available Snowplow Limited Use License as of recent versions) removes the non-commercial restriction that applied to its older open-source releases; Snowplow Platform is the fully managed, production-grade equivalent.
