Redpanda
Kafka-API-compatible streaming platform built in C++ without ZooKeeper or the JVM, available self-managed or as managed cloud.
Redpanda is a from-scratch reimplementation of the Kafka protocol, built in C++ instead of the JVM, aiming for lower latency and simpler operations (a single binary, no ZooKeeper or separate connector cluster required) while remaining wire-compatible with existing Kafka clients and tooling. The self-managed Enterprise Edition can be run on customer infrastructure with a 30-day trial; Redpanda Cloud offers a Serverless tier for pay-as-you-go or annual-commit usage up to 100 MB/s, and a Bring-Your-Own-Cloud (BYOC) tier for higher-throughput, data-sovereign deployments inside the customer's own AWS, GCP or Azure account. It positions itself as a lower-operational-overhead alternative to running open-source Kafka or paying for Confluent, particularly for latency-sensitive workloads.
