Free EU ocean-monitoring service providing physical, biogeochemical and sea-ice data, forecasts and reanalyses worldwide.
The Copernicus Marine Service is the ocean component of the European Union's Copernicus Earth observation programme, implemented by Mercator Ocean International. It publishes global and regional ocean data covering physical conditions (temperature, currents, sea level), sea ice, and biogeochemistry (chlorophyll, oxygen, nutrients), drawn from satellite observations, in-situ sensors and numerical models, spanning hindcasts, nowcasts and forecasts. Products include the annual Ocean State Report and Ocean Monitoring Indicators. Data is accessed through a web portal, a searchable catalogue, direct downloads and visualization tools such as MyOcean Health, and is used by marine scientists, forecasters, fisheries managers and coastal planners. As an EU public service, all data and tools are free and openly licensed.
