Coalesce is a data transformation tool built specifically for Snowflake, and its main pitch is a column-aware graphical editor as an alternative to hand-writing SQL files the way dbt requires. Users build transformations by configuring reusable node templates through a UI; Coalesce generates the underlying Snowflake SQL, version-controls it in Git, and manages dependencies, testing, and documentation much like dbt does under the hood. This makes column-level changes (renames, type changes) faster to apply across a large model graph than manually editing SQL and YAML. Coalesce also has a Catalog for data discovery and lineage, and a Quality module for data tests. It is Snowflake-only today, with no support for BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, or Fabric, which narrows its fit compared with warehouse-agnostic tools like dbt or SQLMesh.
