Castor (previously CastorDoc) was an AI-assisted data catalog offering natural-language search, automated documentation and column-level lineage. In February 2025 it was acquired by Coalesce, the data transformation vendor, and the product now ships as Coalesce Catalog, integrated with Coalesce's transformation platform while keeping its original discovery and governance features. It automatically documents warehouse tables and dashboards, builds lineage graphs, flags PII, and lets an AI assistant answer questions about data assets in plain language. It is delivered as cloud SaaS. Because the product recently changed ownership and branding, teams evaluating it should confirm current roadmap and support directly with Coalesce rather than assuming continuity with the standalone Castor product.
