Bioconductor
Open-source repository of R packages for the analysis and comprehension of high-throughput genomic data.
Bioconductor is a curated repository of R packages purpose-built for genomics, distinct from CRAN in that every package must pass build, documentation and vignette checks specific to biological data types before inclusion. It ships on a strict semi-annual release cycle synchronized with R itself, and standard packages exist for RNA-seq, single-cell, microarray, proteomics and epigenomics workflows, most maintained by the labs that developed the underlying statistical method. Because it's a package ecosystem rather than a hosted service, users run it locally, on institutional HPC, or inside Docker images the project publishes for reproducibility. It sits alongside Galaxy as one of the two dominant open bioinformatics ecosystems, but favors programmatic R analysis over Galaxy's point-and-click workflow interface.
