Heart rate variability (HRV) The variation in time between consecutive heartbeats, used as an indicator of recovery and nervous-system stress. Resting heart rate (RHR) The number of times the heart beats per minute while a person is at complete rest, a common fitness baseline. Sleep staging Classifying sleep into stages such as light, deep and REM sleep based on physiological signals. Training load A quantified measure of how much physical stress a workout or training period placed on the body. VO2 max (maximal oxygen uptake) The maximum rate at which the body can use oxygen during intense exercise, a standard measure of aerobic fitness.
