Course completion rate The share of students who enroll in a course and finish it, a core measure of engagement in online and adult learning. Early warning indicators (education) Data signals such as attendance and grades that flag students at risk of falling behind or dropping out. Learning analytics Collecting and analyzing data on learners and their interactions to understand and improve learning and the environments it happens in. Student retention rate The share of students who continue enrollment from one academic period to the next, most often first year to second year. Value-added model (VAM) A statistical method estimating a teacher or school's contribution to student test-score growth, adjusted for prior scores.
