Verdict
These aren't really competing for the same budget line. Oracle Analytics Cloud is a full enterprise BI platform — self-service dashboards, pixel-perfect enterprise reporting via Analytics Publisher, and native connectivity to Oracle Fusion applications and Autonomous Database — the kind of product that replaces or centralizes an organization's reporting stack. Tellius is narrower and more specific: natural-language search over data paired with automated machine-learning driver and root-cause analysis, aimed at explaining why a number moved rather than rendering the full set of dashboards an organization needs. Tellius is commonly bought to sit alongside an incumbent BI tool, not replace one.
The practical question is which job you're actually solving. If you need enterprise reporting, mobile delivery, and augmented analytics from one Oracle-native platform, Oracle Analytics Cloud is the candidate. If you already have a BI tool and the gap is "nobody can quickly explain a metric drop without a data scientist," Tellius addresses that specific gap.
Choose Oracle Analytics Cloud if

The honest caveat
Oracle's self-serve pricing could not be confirmed from its own pricing page — both products are effectively quote-only for a serious deployment, so get numbers from both vendors before assuming either is the cheaper path. And both lean heavily on AI-generated insights and natural-language querying in their marketing; neither vendor publishes independently verified accuracy figures for those features, so pilot them against your actual, imperfectly named data before trusting the output.
