Verdict

Microsoft Clarity is the outlier in this category: it is free forever, with no traffic limit and no paid tier to upgrade to, covering session replay, click/scroll/attention heatmaps and AI-generated session summaries. There is no enterprise SLA or dedicated support to buy, because there is nothing to buy — that is also its ceiling.

Mouseflow has a real free tier too, but it stops at 500 sessions a month; past that, five tiers scale from $25/month up to a custom Enterprise plan. What the paid tiers buy is depth Clarity does not offer: dedicated form analytics that track field-level drop-off and hesitation, a "friction score" that automatically flags problematic sessions, and on-site feedback surveys.

Choose Microsoft Clarity if

  • Cost has to be zero regardless of traffic volume — a high-traffic site with no budget line for this category is exactly Clarity's use case.
  • You want mobile app SDKs (Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native) alongside the web tag without a separate product.
  • Basic replay, heatmaps and AI summaries cover what you need; you are not chasing form-level abandonment data.

Choose Mouseflow if

  • Forms are a real conversion bottleneck and you need field-level drop-off data, not just page-level heatmaps.
  • Your traffic will exceed a few hundred sessions a month and you are comfortable paying for volume once it does.
  • You want a built-in friction score to prioritize which sessions to review, plus on-site surveys in the same tool.

The honest caveat

Because Clarity has no paid tier, it also has no enterprise support contract, no SLA, and Microsoft is not obligated to prioritize a feature request the way a vendor selling you a subscription would be. That is a reasonable trade at zero cost, but it is worth naming rather than assuming "free" and "fully supported" are the same thing. Mouseflow's free tier, by contrast, is a real on-ramp to a paid product with a support relationship behind it — the 500-session cap is a sales funnel, not a permanent offering the way Clarity's is.
