Verdict
Both run SQL and data-science interview questions, attributed to the companies reportedly asking them, in a browser code editor, and both assume you already know SQL and basic statistics — they drill interview performance rather than teach the concepts from scratch. The decision comes down to breadth versus price. DataLemur stays scoped to SQL and data-science fundamentals and prices for volume: a $15/month plan, a $60/year plan that adds a bundled video course, and a one-time $300 lifetime tier that throws in a coaching call and a signed book. Interview Query is subscription-only with no full-question free tier, but its catalogue goes further — SQL, Python, statistics, machine learning and product-sense case studies, plus over 1,600 company-specific guides describing what a given employer's interview loop actually looks like, and 40+ hours of course content.
Choose DataLemur if
- You want cheap, repeated SQL and data-science drilling without paying for content you will not use.
- A one-time lifetime purchase appeals more than an ongoing subscription.
- Your interviews are mostly SQL and statistics rather than product-sense case studies.
Choose Interview Query if
- You have specific target employers and want to know their interview format in advance.
- Your interviews include product-sense or case-study rounds, not just SQL and stats.
- You would rather pay more for breadth — Python, ML, and course content — than assemble it from several free sources.
The honest caveat
Interview Query's company-specific guides are only as good as their currency: interview loops change, and a guide describing a process from a year or two ago can steer you toward preparing for the wrong round. Neither site replaces a mock interview with another person — both measure whether you can answer a known question format, not whether you can think out loud under real pressure with someone watching. Budget for at least one live mock interview alongside either tool.
