Verdict
Both DataDome and HUMAN Security score web, mobile and API traffic in real time using layered device fingerprinting, behavioral analysis and continuously retrained machine learning to catch credential stuffing, scraping, scalping and account takeover. The difference is scope. DataDome is built and sold as a bot-and-fraud platform for the traffic hitting your own web, mobile and API surfaces. HUMAN Security runs the same kind of detection across a family of named products — BotGuard for application traffic, but also MediaGuard, which filters bot traffic out of advertising campaigns before impressions are billed, plus Application Protection and Code Defender for client-side script and supply-chain risks.
If your problem is specifically "keep bots off my site and app," the two are close substitutes and the decision comes down to a proof of concept on your traffic. If your organization also buys or sells digital advertising and cares about invalid traffic inflating ad spend or revenue, HUMAN's MediaGuard is a capability DataDome doesn't offer, and consolidating both concerns under one vendor may be worth the evaluation even if it isn't the deciding factor for a pure web-fraud team.
Choose DataDome if
- Your requirement is specifically web, mobile app and API bot/fraud protection, and you don't need an ad-fraud product from the same vendor.
- You want dedicated CDN, reverse proxy, load balancer and mobile SDK deployment modules built around that single use case.
- You want a company whose entire business is this one problem, rather than one product line inside a broader security portfolio.
Choose HUMAN Security if
- You also need advertising-fraud filtering (MediaGuard) and would rather buy it from the same vendor as your bot mitigation than run two separate contracts.
- Client-side script and supply-chain risk monitoring (Code Defender) is also on your requirements list.
- You are an enterprise or ad-tech platform where consolidating multiple trust-and-safety products under one vendor relationship has real procurement value.
What they share
Neither publishes pricing — both are quoted per customer based on traffic volume and deployment scope — and both position themselves against the same core attacks: credential stuffing, scraping, and account takeover. Test both against your real, current traffic (including legitimate automated traffic you depend on) rather than a vendor demo. See bot traffic and anomaly detection.
